Traditional Acupuncture for a modern lifestyle.
Restoring your health and well being.
Acupuncture is based on Chinese medicine principles, which have been developed, researched and refined for more than 2,000 years.
Five Element Acupuncture is a traditional style that works to balance the patient's body, mind and spirit. Treating the root cause, rather than specific symptoms, allows the body to re-balance itself. Acupuncture works by balancing our natural energy system, which in Chinese medicine is known as Qi.
Qi flows throughout the body channels or meridians. When the flow of Qi is uninhibited there is good health. However, a disruption in the flow of Qi, or a blockage in the meridians can result in dis-ease and illness can result.
The flow of Qi can be balanced using fine needles inserted at specific points on the body, when blockages are cleared and flow restored, symptoms begin to ease.
Qi is expressed through the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. These elements can be seen in nature and also within ourselves, with each person having constitutional weakness within one of the elements. This weakened element becomes the root cause of our imbalanced energy system thus allowing illness to occur. Treatment focuses on supporting the weakened element, which allows the flow of Qi to follow its natural cycle.
Everything in nature is influenced by the natural laws of the universe. Everything is in balance. Each element encompasses every aspect of human life, mind, body and spirit. We are a process of continual change just like the cycle of the seasons. When we are out of balance with nature we are prone to disease.
We are very well aware of the stresses that accompany everyday life in this modern world, so lifestyle factors have a great influence on health and well being. If we cannot live according to laws of nature then treating the imbalances may be the best we can do in times of disease.
